Anniversary of Natalia Terentieva Concert

A concert dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Natalia Alekseevna Terentieva (1941–2005), PhD in History of Art, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, founder and the first Dean of the Faculty of Music at the Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. Herzen took place on May 5, 2021, in the concert hall of the Institute of Music, Theater and Choreography in St. Petersburg, Russia. Natalia Alekseevna was a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education, a representative of St. Petersburg in the International Council under the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Education, an academician of the International Academy of Pedagogical Education, a brilliant performer, she was actively involved in scientific, educational, and creative activities. Natalia Alekseevna devoted all her energy and professionalism to the development of the faculty. Remembering today Natalia Alekseevna, one cannot but say that she was a loving wife, a caring mother who raised a talented daughter, a brilliant scientist, an outstanding concert musician and pianist. As an educator and specialist in her field Natalia Alekseevna closely cooperated with the publishing house "Composer" in Russia. But, perhaps, her main merit for us was the opening in 1988 of the Faculty of Music at the Herzen University. Natalia Alekseevna devoted all her energy, knowledge, time, professionalism to the development of the faculty. She was one of the first to initiate the transition to a multilevel education system, which in modern reality is in demand and viable. Being a brilliant scientist, she explored the leading ideas of reorganising music education in higher education, substantiated the key positions of the new educational strategy of music and pedagogical education at the university, the peculiarities of training a musician-teacher-educator of a wide humanitarian profile. Natalia Alekseevna has created many educational programs for higher and secondary schools. Natalia Alekseevna has brought up a galaxy of students - undergraduates, graduate students, applicants who successfully work in our university and in other cultural and educational institutions not only in our city, country, but also abroad. It was in the early 2000s that the Faculty became attractive to our Chinese students. Today the Institute of Music, Theater and Choreography preserves and continues the best that was founded by Natalia Alekseevna Terentieva.
